Victorinox Classic Infantry Vintage Mechanical

The newest member of my collection is the Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Infantry Vintage Mechanical, #241376.

The specs:

  • Stainless steel case
  • 44mm
  • 330 feet water resistance
  • 13mm thick
  • front crystal Sapphire, treated with anti-reflective film
  • rear crystal is mineral
  • dial-engraved and sunburst effect
  • movement: Mechanical ETA Unitas 6498.1
  • 17 jewels
  • 18,000 VPH
  • power reserve 46 hours
  • made in Switzerland
  • lugs 23mm

My first impressions are equal to a 6 year old girl getting a Barbie playhouse for Christmas.  The watch is beautiful.

The case is brushed, but a thin band around the bezel is polished.  That treatment is subtle, but very noticeable.

The dial is outstanding.  Fitting with the name of the watch, which contains classic and vintage in the title, the dial definitely has the retro look.  The color of the dial, to me is a very bright cross between hunter green and olive drab. The border where the raised Arabic numerals sits is engraved, while the inner part is treated to a sunburst effect.

Additionally, the second hand sits at the 6 o’clock position and is surround by a polished ring.

The hands are highly polished, and as another example great detail lavished upon this watch, not only are the numerals raised, but the Victorinox shield  is placed at the 12 o’clock position.

Lastly, the inner dial features military time.

Moving on to other attributes, this watch is treated with copious amounts of Super Luminova.  Not only are the hour and minute hands treated, but the second hand, the Arabic numerals, and the hour markers are as well. The movement

is the ETA Unitas 6498.1 mechanical which has 17 jewels and a 46 hour power reserve.  While this is an older and not very spectacular ETA movement, it is my first mechanical watch, and even though it isn’t decorated, it looks awesome through the caseback.

Before I add the pictures, I should mention the leather band.  It is really thick, yet supple and it seems to have been made for a rugged watch.
