1955 Elgin Everest

1955 Elgin Everest

I picked up a really nice example of the Elgin Everest.  The seller sold it as NOS, but maybe a better description would have been worn 5 times and forgotten in drawer.  I knew that going in, but boy, oh, boy, did it arrive in great shape.

The dial is simply pristine and has a quad contrasting engraved pattern.  Depending upon the angle upon which you view the dial, the sectors change from white to grey.  The glass crystal is original as well.  The domed shape adds another facet to the viewing of the dial.

The case number is 5742 and it is featured in the 1955 catalog.  The case is 10k gold filled.

The watch uses the 19 jewel, 681 movement, which from the factory was adjusted to 4 positions.
