Elgin De Luxe with Hackable 539 Movement
Not sure this is the correct movement for this watch, but I have circumstantial evidence that it might me.
First off, I have an Elgin De Luxe, case 5907 with a 10K gold filled bezel and a stainless steel back.
The movement is the 539, 16 jewel hackable movement, made from the beginning of WW ll through the early fifties. The serial number puts it at 1949, which makes it plausible that it landed in this particular De Luxe.
The dial is in great shape, with a few minor imperfections, while the case has some brassing, it isn’t noticeable enough to damper my enthusiasm for the watch.
