1957 Lord Elgin Glencove
I picked up another nice Lord Elgin. This time it is a 1957 (the ad it is in is from 1957 and I have another caseback engraved 1957) Lord Elgin Glencove. It uses the 654, 23 jewel, Swiss automatic.
It has the case 6831. The upper case is 14k rolled gold and the caseback is stainless steel.
The dial is rather interesting. The center is made up of concentric circles surrounded by a raised gold chapter ring.
The Glencove is described in the ad as part of the Nite-Glo series. I relumed the hour markers and the back of the hands. Though I can’t get good photos, the hour dots glow nicely and you can see the back of the hands throwing off some light.
Finally, I found a Hadley band that isn’t an exact match for the ad, but it is pretty close.
