Square Benrus Calendar Watch
Found a square Benrus Calendar watch from the 1950s in really nice shape and for a decent price. The watch measure 25mm across and 35mm diagonally. It features a 17 jewel, Swiss made Model CK 2 manual movement. This seems to be an earlier of the CE 13 model, based off the ETA 900 series. The condition of the watch is good, with just a nick through the gold 1oK filling on the side of the case, a bit of discoloration on the dial, and blackened tip of the minute hand. The crystal is in great shape. Unlike the round case version I have, this earlier model and movement doesn’t have a quick date set feature, but getting the day and date set correctly turns out not to be too difficult. I’m not a big fan of rectangular cases, but this square case is to my liking. Unlike older, rectangular watches, this Benrus wears, or at least seems to, large on the wrist.
