Lord Elgin 750 or 775 Manual Movement

Lord Elgin 750 or 775 Manual Movement

I’m basing this guess from GeneJockey’s Elgin Blog. If you scroll down to the picture of a stainless steel Lord Elgin with a steel maker’s emblem on it, you can see it has the same second hand and 23 jewels as my model.  So, until I find otherwise, I just received a very nice 23 jewel Lord Elgin with the 775 manual movement and a 14K case.  The movement is adjusted to 6 positions.  The case is 7580

The watch is in rather good shape.  There is a little dirt on the dial at 7 o’clock and there are few scratches on the case back where someone tried to pry open the case–unfortunately this is another watch where the movement is accessed by popping off the crystal.

Comparing to the model on the Elgin blog, the second hand seems original, but I’m pretty sure the crown is a replacement.

Update: GeneJockey notes that it could be either a 750 or 775.  That discovery will have to wait until it gets serviced.
