Lord Elgin 30 Jewel American Made Automatic Movement

Here’s a second Lord Elgin with a 30 jewel American (this is the 760 movement) made automatic movement that I just received.  The dial is near pristine, the crystal looks almost new and the front of the case and lugs are in great shape.  Throughout, the rolled gold filling is in great condition as well.  Elgin made these watches from 1958 through 1964. The back of the case has a few scratches, as it looks like someone was trying to pry the caseback off.  I guess they didn’t realize that the movement is accessed through the removal of the crystal. I’ll add more pictures when the vintage metal band I ordered arrives. UPDATE:  Just got it back from the watchmaker.  It was running 15 minutes fast an hour. I thought it was magnetized, but my watch guy said the movement was full of oil and the hair spring was stuck.  He serviced and time the movement and did his usual magic on the crystal, dial, and case.  I ended up putting it on a Baldwin center expansion band which was new old stock from the 1960s.
