This 1957 Elgin Direct Read, aka the Golf Ball, received a major upgrade, when I was able to find a NOS case with the original crown. In its original condition, the dimple area has a light concentric brushing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case number is 9857. It uses the 17 jewel, 717 movement. While not original, this period Speidel band pretty closely mimics it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luckily, the digital display works as it should, with the hour remaining center and snapping over to the next when it hits 0 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
