I picked up an Elgin Neptune.\u00a0 Using information from Genejockey’s Elgin Blog<\/a>, this particular Elgin went into production in 1953 and was one of the first Elgin’s to use a Swiss based movement made by Schild, caliber<\/a> 1361. It has 17 jewels and carried the Elgin caliber of 643. The case is 10K gold filled.<\/p>\n

The case is highlighted by unusual lugs which hides part of the band.\u00a0 The dial has an engraved pattern in a band near the bezel and the quarter hours are represented by Roman numerals.<\/p>\n

Overall, the watch is in decent shape.\u00a0 It shows some wear, mostly some minor denting on the bezel and the case back. The dial also shows some patina.<\/p>\n

While not mint, it shined up very well and ads character to my collection.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
