Gruen Precision Early 1960’s with Automatic Swiss Movement
I picked this up at a garage sale over the weekend. From my limited research, this Gruen Precision is probably from the early 60s. It uses the N 710 SS 17 jewel automatic Swiss movement. It runs at 18,000 bph.
The stainless steel case back reads shock resistant, anti-magnetic, and waterproof. When you screw the case back off, their is another cover over the movement, which itself needs to be twisted out to get to finally reach the movement.
The pictures of the case back were taken as I took it apart. It has since cleaned up nicely.
The crystal and dial are in decent shape and the top of the bezel that you see is in decent shape. Unfortunately, the gold plating has worn through on the bottom of the lugs and the bottom of the case in spots. But, to the eye, when on the wrist, it looks pretty good.
